Provide surveyors and candidates with knowledge on how the identification and evaluation of evidence (and how this is tied to the hierarchy of evidence doctrine) is being done using real world examples. Presenters will discuss the process and practices they used in cases they have encountered which will include restoring disturbed, obliterated or lost monumentation.

Ryan Gordon, ALS, BCLS, CLS, P.Surv, P.Eng.

Ryan Gordon, ALS, BCLS, CLS, P.Eng. was commissioned as an Alberta Land Surveyor in 2008, a British Columbia Land Surveyor in 2009, and a Canada Lands Surveyor in 2011. He has made his home in various locations throughout northern Alberta, and worked throughout Alberta and BC on surveys throughout his career working in both densely packed urban, and remote areas completing legal surveys. He got his start in mostly municipal surveys where evidence assessment and restoration was of critical importance. In 2016, he moved his family north to experience true northern surveying in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and in 2020, he left private practice to take a role with the Surveyor General Branch. In private practice, Ryan pushed back against the typical office role, and continued to stay active with fieldwork, turning his truck, or in some cases just his luggage and hotel room, into a mobile office. He has never been afraid of digging a deep hole (just ask his wife!), and loves exploring, camping, hiking, snowmobiling, quadding, and sitting staring at computer screens for hours on end either looking at plans and maps or designing cities and civilizations. He continues to stay active with occasional fieldwork, but enjoys working in an office now and having the time to spend with family and experience all the north has to offer!

Jordan Litke, P.Surv, BCLS

Jordan Litke is a British Columbia Land Surveyor and project manager at Polaris Land Surveying, working in British Columbia since 2008. Jordan’s projects have taken him throughout much of the province, including the Peace River District in North East BC, the Cariboo Region in central BC, the Okanagan and Thompson area in Southern BC, Metro Vancouver, Victoria, and the Gulf Islands. The nature of Jordan’s projects range from land development, to construction and engineering, to remote first nation work. When he’s not surveying, Jordan spends his time with his family of five on their hobby farm outside of Victoria

Albert G. Degner MLS, CLS

Articled to Wilfred H. Gatin MLS 1974. Commissioned as a Manitoba Land Surveyor July, 1977. Commissioned as a Canada Land Surveyor April, 1992. Regional Surveyor for Eastern Manitoba and Northern Manitoba  1977 to 1988. Principal, Pollock and Wright Land Surveyors 1988 to present. Served the profession on a number of committees/duties including Registrar, Councillor, Vice President and President. Currently serving on the Student Assistance Committee.
